Move with confidence

Good decisions start before a viewing, booking, job, or payment. These practical checks help every person on Imba Yedu slow down, verify the details, and recognize pressure.

Report a concern

Know the boundary

Imba Yedu does not collect rent, property deposits, short-stay booking proceeds, or provider payouts.

Those agreements and payments happen directly between users. Charges for Imba Yedu platform products and separate utility purchases are different. Never send rent or a deposit to an account described as an “Imba Yedu escrow” account—we do not provide one.

A six-step safety protocol

Before money changes hands

Use every step. A convincing profile, a verification marker, or a friendly conversation does not replace your own checks.

  1. 01

See what you are paying for

Inspect the property or work in person. If that is not possible, arrange a live video walkthrough and ask questions about anything that is unclear.

  2. 02

    Confirm identity and authority

Check that the person is who they say they are and has permission to rent the property, host the stay, or provide the service.

  3. 03

    Put the agreement in writing

Record the price, deposit, dates, included services, cancellation terms, and what happens if either person cannot continue.

  4. 04

    Verify the recipient

Match the account or mobile-money recipient to the person or business in your agreement. Query a different name before sending money.

  5. 05

    Keep your proof

Save the listing, messages, agreement, recipient details, and payment confirmation somewhere you can access later.

  6. 06

    Stop when pressure starts

Urgency is not proof. Pause if someone demands immediate payment, refuses reasonable checks, or changes the payment destination.

Checks, not guarantees

What verification means

A check can help establish that particular information was supplied or reviewed at a point in time. It can reduce risk, but it cannot guarantee a person’s future behaviour, the condition of a property, or the outcome of an agreement.

Verification does not mean every listing has been inspected, and an unverified profile is not automatically fraudulent. Read the listing carefully and complete the payment protocol yourself.

Treat trust indicators as one source of information—not as a substitute for an inspection, written terms, or recipient checks.

Pause and check

Common warning signs

  • A price that is far below similar properties or services, paired with pressure to act now.
  • Refusal to arrange an inspection, live video call, or reasonable identity check.
  • Requests to pay a different person, an unexplained account, or an alleged Imba Yedu escrow account.
  • A listing, address, photograph, receipt, or identity document that does not match the conversation.
  • Requests for passwords, one-time codes, card PINs, or remote access to your phone.

If something goes wrong

Act quickly and keep a record

Imba Yedu can review activity on the marketplace, but your payment provider and law-enforcement authorities have different powers. Contact the right organisation for each part of the incident.

  1. 01

    Stop further payment

Do not send more money or share more information, even if you are promised a refund.

  2. 02

    Preserve the evidence

Save links, screenshots, messages, names, telephone numbers, recipient details, and receipts.

  3. 03

    Contact the payment provider

Tell your bank, mobile-money provider, or card issuer immediately and ask what recovery or account-protection steps are available.

  4. 04

    Report it to Imba Yedu

Send the evidence and listing or profile link to our safety team so the marketplace activity can be reviewed.

  5. 05

    Contact the police when appropriate

For theft, threats, impersonation, or other suspected crime, report the matter to the relevant police service.

Check first. Ask when unsure.

Read our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, or contact us before proceeding if something does not feel right.
